In early 2021, I was invited to become a Founding Member of the Clayton Members Club, an intentionally cultivated community of social, business, and creative leaders in Denver, CO. I gladly accepted the invitation, and it has been a valuable source of inspiration, friendships, and networking.
Clayton members are unified by our five pillars (Be Fun, Be Curious, Be Authentic, Be Inclusive, Be Generous) and dedicated to living more meaningful and impactful lives. The non-profit arm, Clayton Contributes Fund, partners with local community-based, charitable organizations to affect positive change across the city of Denver.
The Clayton Members Club and Hotel in Cherry Creek North opened in May 2021, and one of the first things I especially loved seeing was the art displayed on the premises. Diversity and Inclusion are important at Clayton, and the art on the walls represents the members in the club. All artwork displayed are for sale and 100% of the proceeds go to the member artists.
Walking into the library, I was immediately drawn to the large graphic black and white cowboy paintings that lined the back wall. The tall hats, slit eyes and bearded faces made me think of Asian samurai, for some reason. They just had a presence and were so cool.
Those paintings stayed on my mind and when my husband, Darryl, and I, started looking for artwork for 2thbar, I kept thinking about them. One night in January 2022, I proposed to him that I should just reach out to the artist and see if she would be open to a collaboration with 2thbar. We both agreed that if she said yes, they would be so perfect in our space!
I sent a DM on Instagram to Laura Goodson the very next day introducing myself and the concept for our new dental office, 2thbar, and how we would love to collaborate with her to display her artwork in our space. To my delight, she responded that evening and we exchanged phone numbers. Shortly after, we met up in person at Clayton. It was a pleasure meeting and getting to know her, she is such a lovely, down-to-earth individual, and just like her paintings, has a presence and is very cool. Meeting her in person just solidified our desire to have her art at 2thbar. She was enthusiastic and supportive of our vision for 2thbar, and we were so happy when she agreed to a collaboration.
Her paintings give our welcome lounge a cool, modern vibe with great personality. Their size and presence have been commented on by many of our patients who enjoy seeing them in our space. And all of them are for sale with 100% of the proceeds going to the artist.
Aside from being super talented, I love how Laura actively gives back to her community and supports so many worthwhile causes with her work. It is an honor and our pleasure to display her amazing art at 2thbar. You can browse them online at www.lauragoodsonart.com/2thbar or better yet, come in to visit and see them for yourself!
